About us

We're a small, friendly drumming group ranging in age and experience who enjoy playing Taiko together. We are collaboratively learning a collection of pieces of varying difficulties and enjoy adding our own twist to traditional arrangements.

Come along and join us! We welcome beginners and more experienced players alike, and can offer a challenging but enjoyable experience to engage your body and your mind. We recommend wearing loose clothing and bringing water and ear plugs (it's loud!).

Our teachers are all volunteers, and payments for sessions go towards the hire of the building and the purchase of new equipment.


Our next beginners' course will be starting in Autumn 2025.

Weekly Practice Sessions

Our practice sessions are a great opportunity to learn a new skill or develop an existing hobby. We learn for fun but there's also the chance to perform at some local events if you are interested in doing so.


We practice weekly on Wednesdays from 19:00-20:30 at SHE7 on Braemar Cres in North Bristol. If you'd like more information please email us or message on Facebook.

  • Our core members rehearse every Wednesday, and while we're always excited to meet and chat to people keen to learn Taiko, we don't offer drop-ins for our regular sessions.
  • However, we will be running a number of 6-week courses for beginners throughout the year. If you're interested, please email bristoltaiko@gmail.com or get in touch via one of the links at the bottom of the page.
